Post subject: Christmas Lunch @ Victoria Park! | |
|
This is from 2012 because I could not find anything current 2014 on the cfc.com site. The lunch is mentioned on the Salvo's website as being at Vic Park though although it doesn't mention a year.

Please give a gift for someone less fortunate this Christmas.
It has been a famous tradition at Collingwood over many decades that the club hosts a special luncheon on Christmas Day for the disadvantaged and homeless.
This year we are delighted to be able to announce that the luncheon is returning to Victoria Park and the CFC Foundation is hosting the event in a Grand Marquee on the oval.
The luncheon is held in partnership with a range of welfare organisations including the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul, Collingwood Community Information Centre, North Yarra Community Health Centre and Western Region Health Centre.
This year for the first time Collingwood members and supporters are invited to donate a small gift to our “Christmas Giving Tree Appeal”.
All gifts will be handed out to all those attending the luncheon this Christmas.
How to give a gift
To participate in the Collingwood Christmas Giving Tree Appeal simply donate a wrapped and clearly labeled gift with who the gift would be suitable for (eg: girl 2-4 years old.)
Donations can be made at:
- The Collingwood Christmas Wishing Tree located in the Westpac Centre foyer from Thursday 6th December to Tuesday 18th December, 2012.
- If you can’t get into the club simply call the Collingwood Superstore on (03) 8412 0026 to place an order over the phone and they will place your gift under the tree for you. For great gift ideas visit the Collingwood Christmas online catalogue.
- By mailing a present to the club at:
Collingwood Christmas Wishing Tree Appeal
Collingwood Football Club
PO Box 165
ABBOTSFORD VIC 3067.
Go Pies!
There is nothing mentioning Volunteers in the spiel so is the set up the same as years gone past.

I received an email from the club late late week about donating to CFC Foundation, not sure if it included the Xmas lunch.

the donations would help fund christmas presents for those invited to the lunch and to ensure everyone would receive something. in previous years not enough gifts were donated.

Christmas time is a timely reminder that as a society we still have so much more to do. A lonely and extremely sad time for so many people who simply are victims of circumstances. Poverty along with Mental Health and Homelessness condemn many people at this festive time of the year. We cant appreciate Christmas and it's message if we don't appreciate those who are in need of help either by support or a bit of comfort.
Merry Christmas everyone

Great stuff by the Club and the volunteers for giving up time on Christmas Day to help those that society forgets. Volunteers around the nation do so much in so many ways to make Australia a better place. To all of those involved, take a big bow.
