So Collingwood is taxed and that money, our money, yours and my money, is paid to North who played finals and the Saints who sack coach after coach, with pay out after payout adding to their permanent state of bankruptcy. Let's not forget that permanent welfare recipient, the Western Bulldogs, who sack a coach forcing a two year pay-out and sign a young bloke on a million a year. This equalisation policy is a crock and we should all be very angry about it. |
I agree the tax is a crock, but can't we afford to pay it anyway? Surely we are rich enough or is the club expecting memberships to plummet next season? _________________ Rain or hail, I wag my tail |

I'm not sure collie, are you renewing your membership? Your moves will be watched by thousands of wavering supporters I'm sure. Get on board......the slump is over! _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!

Why should your membership fee go to another club as an tax payment.
The club is right to cut spending to avoid the tax.
Watch our membership numbers fall, as members refuse to put money into the club, if it goes to another club _________________ B.U.M.S ROCK...That's Ballarat United Magpies Supporters.....Long trip but even longer hangovers! |

Sounds like a very positive article.
There was a lengthy review, replacements identified and secured.
Im not 100% buying the footy dept. tax spin.
I think the constant line is brilliant management to drive down overall salary and expectations of off-field staff across the industry, and Collingwood in particular.
I expect we will be paying the most, or maybe we have identified some loopholes
Go Eddie ! |

On a slight tangent, did anyone see today's ridiculous Herald Sun front page banner? "Collingwood's injury curse claims two more victims", I think it said. Yep, made me look. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Would you rather give your team the best possible chance at winning, or would you rather worry about how much tax you have to pay?
I notice Hawthorn are not cutting back on spending. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

Just had some synvisc pumped into both knees by one of our 2010 team docs, he went to storm in 2011, I begged him to come back! They spoke to him at seasons end but they need full time and he has this new sport clinic. He said everything is completely different. Hopefully that means good different! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Just to put this in perspective, I see that the AFL site is reporting that Steve Johnson, Mitch Clark and Vardy are all injured at Geelong |

Haha just to put your quote into perspective, I see Geelong have been sending players to Germany for treatment on soft tissue injuries for years. Balme is the only reason Reid has gone to see an expert about his troubles. Since 2011, Reid has struggled with leg injuries. That's 3 seasons for the Collingwood brains trust to pull their finger out.
And the horrendous decision to hire Devoren? Bulldogs- Ackermanis claimed Eade over trained the club and ruined them for September with soft tissue injuries (true) and then st kilda in 2013 could hardly feild a team.
Guess who the common denominator was? And why didn't Eade poach him for the Suns? Don't tell me it's because Eddie threatened to sue the Suns? Clearly even Eade has woke up and smelt the roses.
Last year was an absolute abomination. Why Port can get a world class fitness guy and we can't is a disgrace. |

We had a shocking 2014 injury wise, but 2013 and 2012 weren't much better. To be fair, Davoren can't be blamed for injuries when he wasn't even at Collingwood and he does have a good reputation, otherwise he wouldn't have been employed.
"Collingwood has appointed respected and highly credentialed sports scientist Bill Davoren to the position of High Performance Manager.
Boasting over a decade of experience heading strength and conditioning programs in elite sport, Davoren joins Collingwood after stints working with the Western Bulldogs and, most recently, St Kilda.
............Davorens arrival continues the regeneration of the Magpies ahead of the 2014 campaign." Collingwoodfc.com.au 2013
If injuries continue to kill off our young players this year, we can expect Eddie to wield the axe in no uncertain terms.
At the Members' Meeting in August Davoren was well prepared for the questions. He had plenty of stats and graphs to show that Collingwood actually had fewer injuries than the previous 2 years. He explained that the injuries to Freeman and Sharenberg had skewed the figures.
Nevertheless, Eddie apparently read the riot act at a staff meeting earlier that day and put all staff on notice. A few were terminated including our doctor and out weights and conditioning supervisor.
Fingers crossed. _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!

Might as well add Bucks to that list...
Or go all the way, sack the entire committee and staff and start again.. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |
