He's hot? No chance they'll be passing on him then. _________________ Well done boys! |

Dogs look like they are targeting their own Father son picks - albeit later in the draft. They are talls as well. _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"

I say risk it. To win in the draft you have to take risks. I think other clubs may be reticent to use a high pick on him anyway knowing his family history at the Pies he may want eventually get to us anyway. |

Where's the risk? If we nominate him, we are obliged only to take him with our last pick if no-one makes a better bid.
If there's a better bid, we have the choice whether or not to use our next pick after that bid to take him. If we do so, we are obliged to use our next pick on him at the draft. If we don't, the other bidder is obliged to use that pick on him at the draft.
So, I don't really see any risk - we will know whether or not we are required to use the first round pick - presently 8 - long before the draft. By mid-Monday-morning, in fact. |

At least Brisbane won't nominate Darcy. |

Dogs are after Sam Reid and Tim Membrey. They might need to hang onto that pick 5 to get a deal done. No sense bidding it for a young tall who needs 3-4 years to come on... |

Apparently Darcy isn't participating at the combine due to a broken finger and calf soreness. He still can be interviewed.
Good boy doing his bit for the club already.
Now for a sex scandal before Friday.
David and TP are you free?
I'm covering both bases.
P.S-Do we find out on Friday whether a club bids for him prior to our selection 8 or not until the following Monday. I read it as Friday with clubs given till Monday to decide whether to match it. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Nah, tomorrow is just about clubs putting their nomination forms in.
The actual bidding happens on Monday. The clubs get the weekend to see the final field of prospective Father/Sons and make their decisions on who they'll bid for... |

All the more reason not to bid with it and potentially lock yourselves into using it. Can't trade into the top 3 without a live pick 5, unless you're going to offload good players...

The exit of Jones helps us I think. The Dogs need a tall, but they need one ready to play now. It's time for them to start playing finals or at least going very close. They can't afford to be waiting 3-4 years for a young tall to develop.
It's looking to me that the Dogs and Blues are both very open to trading their first round pick. That opens up a slim chance of getting Moore in the second round. I'd still not rule out teams above us nominating him with full knowledge we'll match it though. The Eagles nominated Luke McDonald at 6 but ended up trading that pick to us, so they were obviously not playing it safe. _________________ Well done boys! |
