Good outcomes for the Pack and the 49ers this morning.

That said, watching the games, I think that the Packers are a long way off troubling a decent team. I don't think they forced the Bears to punt once through the whole game. In the first half, they couldn't stop Cutler (although, on the stroke of half-time, Ho Ho Ho saved a TD by, at most, centimetres and some bad time-management by the Bears) - even the "goal-line stand" the Packers made was unconvincing to me. In the second half, Cutler was picked off by Shields and Williams. So, the secondary did its job for the Pack but I thought their defensive line was largely unconvincing. Lucky for them, Rodgers was in top form: the Bears couldn't stop him and he isn't the sort of QB who is likely to throw the ball repeatedly to the opposition secondary.

The 49ers' defensive line was very impressive. They hauled their team right back into it and over the Eagles after a poor start by the offense. CK got sacked too many times for me to be satisfied that his offensive line is up to the Superbowl challenge. I am interested in others' views but, right now, I think that the 49ers and Packers could probably field one good team between them. Pity Gore and Rodgers don't play for the same team.

Early coaching change: after their 0:4 start, the Raiders have sacked Dennis Allen. Don't yet know who their new head coach will be.

A little under 10 minutes gone in the first quarter and the Pack leads the Vikes 14:0. 3 times 4 has thrown two touchdown passes (including a 66 yarder to Nelson).

End of the first quarter. Still the Pack leading 14:0. Vikings on 4th and 2, about to punt from their own 33-yard line. Minnesota had the ball for over 8 minutes in that quarter but made a total of 40 yards.

Very strange game. Pack has 4 three and outs and two tds, each on a 4-play drive. Their offensive line and running game suck.

But the Pack defence has come good, just as it looked like the Vikes might respond: Julius Peppers has intercepted Ponder and taken the ball back 49 yards for a TD. Now 21:0, with 6 minutes and 51 seconds to go until half-time.

And again! Woo hoo! Lattimore has just intercepted Ponder at the Minnesota 30 and runs it back to the 20. Let's see if the Pack's offensive line can hold up long enough for 3 times 4 to get this one in for a TD, too.

Yes, it can. 3 plays. TD pass from Rodgers to Adams. Now 28:0, still with 4m 51s to half-time.

And the offensive line lets Rodgers get sacked again. So the Pack is 28:0 in the lead but is going to go into half-time without a drive of more than 4 plays.

The Pack started with the ball in the second half and have finally put together a drive of more than 4 plays. This one was a 6 play, 70 yard drive. For a TD of course. Pack leads Vikes 35:0.

42:0, almost three-quarter town. The Pack is murdering the Vikes, now. Rodgers is using the backs to run down the clock and between them Starks and Lacy have rushed the ball for another TD.

Getting embarrassing for the Vikings now, actually it was getting embarrassing about 20 points ago.

That said, they've just got a TD back and the Pack, having taken Rodgers out of the game, has brought in Flynn - whose first pass has been intercepted. The Vikes are still in this. Just 5 TDs and they can take this to extra time.

Looking at the Packers' game today, they still need to improve their offensive line but I am pleased that their punting and kicking game has improved. The punting today has been exceptionally good. Also, Crosby missed a number of not-too-difficult field goals last season and I was very frustrated by the Pack's special teams game. That seems to be more solid, all round, so far.

Ponder is useless. Teddy needs to go back in ASAP
