http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/islamic-extremist-milad-bin-ahmadshah-alahmadzai-jailed-over-threats-to-asio-police-officers/story-fni0cx12-1227033404836

Quote:
AN Islamic extremist who threatened to “slit” the throat and crack the neck of an ASIO officer has been sentenced to nine months in prison.

Milad Bin Ahmad-Shah Al-Ahmadzai, 24, was sentenced on two charges of threatening serious harm to a Commonwealth official and using a carriage service to menace in Downing District Court this afternoon.

Al-Ahmadzai had been under surveillance by ASIO for four years when he made threats over the phone to an ASIO officer and a police member of the Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) on May 2 and 10 last year.

Al-Ahmadzai told the ASIO officer in a phone call, “I’m going to crack you neck,”

“Come near my family again and I am going to slit your throat, you pig.”

Eight days later he called a police member of JCTT saying: “I know who you are, I know where you live, and I know what you do.”

He followed the phone call up with several threatening texts including, “just be careful”, and in another message described him as a “putrid dog and filthy pig”.

Judge Ian McClintock described the phone calls as: “chilling and clearly intended to instil fear”.

The court heard the month before, Al-Ahmadzai had made several prank phone calls to ASIO’s public phone line saying he was Ronald McDonald and tried to order fast food.

Judge McClintock said Al-Ahmadzai, who was born in Sydney and went to Epping Boys High School, became deeply religious after graduating, much to his parents concern.

“It caused tension within his own family, in particular with his father,” he said.

ASIO cancelled Al-Ahmadzai’s passport after two overseas trips which included a month spent in Afghanistan.

Al-Ahmadzai, who became a father in October last year, appears to have shed his extremist beliefs and has submitted a letter of apology to the officers.

In the letter he said at the time he had a “baseless, misplaced, unjustified anger and frustration”.

“I further express my regret for my childish actions.”

Al-Ahmadzai was sentenced via video link from Goulburn jail.

Several family members attended the sentence including his child and wife dressed in a veil that concealed her face accept for her eyes.

Judge McClintock accepted his “genuine expression of remorse,” but said he needed to impose a term of imprisonment to deter others.

Al-Ahmadzai has had his sentence backdated to February 23, he will be released on November 19.

Is there some sort of way of taking away a persons birth right of citizenship?

Can he be made a stateless person?

So a 9 month sentence for a verbal threat is too lenient? Ok. Oh right, I missed the Islamic bit, now it makes sense, should have got at least 10 years.

Clever. Deport him from every country. What do you propose to do with him then?

Lol, Inkling. Spot on. Amazing how prejudice can blind people. Note that no-one would be discussing deportation if it had been some white Australian with a bad attitude (but then, perhaps whites don't get harassed unfairly by ASIO quite as much either).

Mistaking ASIO for an American fast food-outlet!
...that's a mistake anyone could have made.

Lol at some people.

- This guy has been under surveillance for 4 years, (doesn't matter what for, if they're gonna spend 4 years tracking you then you're up to something).
- Takes the piss out of ASIO by being Ronald McDonald, seemingly not in a drunken Saturday night prank. ASIO, you know, our highest ranked security agency.
- He threatens officers on separate occasions, ASIO officers, not an over-zealous Constable from Sunshine Police Station who's been a bit rough, ASIO officers that look after national security.
- Actually tracked one of them down to threaten him, not reacted on the spot to feeling unfairly arrested, tracked him down to threaten him, and I can't imagine this information would be on google.

A dangerous man with resources it would appear based on the posted report.

Any excuse to put him away for as long as possible would seem justified in my eyes - whether he is a Muslim, Christian, Jew, Athiest, Black, White, Yellow, fkng Purple!!!!!!!!!!

It's so easy to pull out the racism card without discussing the facts.

Deportation talk is almost always thinly-veiled xenophobia, I reckon.
