Nope.
Mind you, that isn't to say that he won't be an effective leader. Leadership has very, very little to do with being an impressive-sounding voice on the radio or looking good in funny hats. There is no reason a colourless, wooden speaker like Bill couldn't be a very effective and successful prime minister. For an example, look no further than John Howard, as colourless a nebbish of a man as you could find anywhere. Howard was Australia's second longest-serving Prime Minister, so it certainly can be done.
I don't particularly admire Shorten. He's too right-wing and his idiotic view on endless population growth is almost as short-sighted and brain-dead as Abbott's. But like the rest of Australia, I'll vote for him anyway, as the only alternative is the mad-dog egomaniac Abbott and his bizarre mob of comic-book evil cranks and nutjobs. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

pay all of that. Krudd was very good at the soundbite and manipulating the media and public and was abysmal as a leader. Public persona and internal one aren't necessarily the same.
Howard was captain beige, V1.0. Shorten actually has slightly more personality.
It's an interesting mess at the moment, the Libs are all over the place but can't actually do much damage because Clive (deity of choice help us) is in charge. No legislation gets passed that Clive doesn't approve, and he's changing his mind more often than his undies. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

x2. I'd rather gouge my own eyes out than listen to Shorten talk. But I still hope he wins the next election (or, even better, goes swimming at Harold Holt's favourite beach and gets replaced by some other stockman's border collie). _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

It could have been worse, Albo could have won the leadership ballot. If Bill doesn't fit the bill, who would you have from the Labor side? _________________ Well done boys! |

Prefer Albo, of course, but I reckon there are two or three on the front bench who are better than either. Tony Burke is an obvious starter: intelligent, very hard worker, not prone to gaffes or mistakes, competent administrator with an excellent ministerial record in a range of portfolios, and a good communicator. Hard to go past, really. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

I have no idea who he is, literally.
Does he have the public front to win the votes? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I would have preferred Albo any day of the week. But, although I'm not totally enthusiastic about her, I'd pick Plibersek ahead of either of them and perhaps Penny Wong ahead of all three (if she was parachuted down to the lower house). I'm sure there are other competent ALP frontbenchers, but I'll believe it when I see it. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Penny Wong? Farnarkle me, David, you've got no friggin' idea. You saw how they crucified Gillard just for being a woman. How the hell do you reckon they'd treat an openly gay woman? FMD, the shock jock stations would go into ballistic meltdown.
.... which .... now that I think about it ... mightn't be such a bad thing _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

She's actually a super impressive speaker & debater. A great performer & doesn't panic, she's photogenic
Gillard may have paved the way, broken the glass ceiling so to speak. Penny Wong doesn't take shit. She makes the woman from Palmer United look like a shrill bogan dumbass. Oh wait, Lambie manages that on her own.
Can you imagine how Corey Benardi & Kevin Andrews would react to a lesbian mother as Prime Minster!
Of Asian decent too. Is she in Team Australia. Perhaps Pa Marmo thinks she's a Muslim _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

I was going to say that Clive Palmer makes the woman from Palmer United look like a shrill bogan dumbass. Then I read your next sentence.

I imagine that they would give her the precise same loyalty and faithful, intelligent service that they give to Abbott. Still, they probably wouldn't call her "barren".
PS: this is Australia. That's dumbarse.

I don't think godforsaken socialists like Labor politicians are part of "Team Australia". You have to at least have a Slim Dusty CD and a "#%$# off we're full" sticker on the back of your car to make the team. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

It's kind of sad that we're now in a cycle of changing governments because the incumbent is so bad. Abbott is now right where Rudd and Gillard both were, only the rusted ons can stand them anymore and even some of those are jumping ship.
+1 on Wong. If there has to be a pinko in charge, may as well grab the best, most intelligent pinko with presence, courage and wit. I'd take Penny over any of the currently available options. A Turnbull/Wong unity ticket would be fine. Shorten/Plibersek? Ugh.
As for Shorten and the allegations, there seems to be little to it. It's a shame that those who would make these allegations never seem to face any consequences for making them. |

There are thousands of people around our great country this police inaction will affect. The Police are not saying the incident didn't happen they are saying they don't think there is a good chance of winning the case. Many people's thinking has been reinforced by this lack of heart by the investigating police. This happens over and over again and the perpetrators get away with it this is why the Milne charge is a good thing.
How many either took their own life or are thinking about it this week, how many people has this PR act by Bill indirectly encouraged to self harm?
It's just sad and he should step down NOW. |

Oops. My only defence is that it was 1.30 in the morning.
