Sorry mate, but I'm missing this one.
We put sanctions on Russia because Vlad (Ras) Putin is a douche nozzle invading Ukraine, stuffing around people trying to get dead people from the plane they shot down back home, etc.
Said douche nozzle responds by banning food (but not booze) imports from Australia which will have a greater impact on the russian populace than on Australian farmers. At least they can get drunk while they starve.
Would you rather that the government didn't put sanctions on Ras in order to protect our farming exports?
You want to throw rocks at Bud and the tone deafs on a lot of their current actions I'm more than happy to step aside and watch, but in this one I'm missing the point of what they did wrong. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Justified or not—we've had that discussion in another thread; personally, I'm still undecided—you can't really blame Abbott for the sanctions or the subsequent backlash. Not only did it had bipartisan support, Labor would have done the same in government. Where the US goes, we inevitably follow. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Like, Russia can't feed it self or supply it's own oil?
Hell, they endured decades of much worse things than sanctions from the West.
Military spending (on both sides) brought them down.
How about this time we try talking to them instead of down to them?
Or is the Cold war part 2 about to begin? |

Spot on. This was a policy response so obviously right for the circumstances that even Abbott managed it. Chalk it up as Abbott's second ever success in government.
(Second ever. I'm being generous here and assuming that there was another one. I can't think of any, but there must have been one somewhere along the line. Probably.) _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

I always thought Abbott had a problem with blokes playing for the other team.
Anyway, whatever team Abbott's on, I'm happy to be on the other one. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Well, for a start, many fruit bat species are highly gregarious!

Sports news...
The Scottish Independence Cup Great Game was thrown into uproar when the Captain Team Australia F#*K Yeah! scored owned goal of his own boot and then jammed that same foot firmly in his mouth.
Point scoring from both sides on what is best for both parties countries kept the game interesting and Punters had thought the game could have gone either wae.
Team Australia's sudden appearance opinion and lecture on what freedom means now means the result seems a fore-gone conclusion.
I'd rather a robust political debate to the boots and all approach we now seem to favour any day of the week but who cares what I think?
Not tEAM aUSTRALIA is not my Australia! |
