Part of my adolescence & early adulthood.
Never lost an election (4 big ones as premier), never lost a by-election, was more popular amongst lib voters than his lib leader counter-parts were, stood down as Premier during allegations of corruption were made (& aired through Four Corners) amongst other places & cleared by a Royal Commission.
His legacy includes the great national parks of Northern NSW, the decriminalisation of homosexuality & keeping the Libs out of Government for so many years in NSW.
God parent to a child of Malcolm Turnbull.

by all accounts the first and last member of the NSW Labor right to get past the pearly gates without getting dropped through the chute to the "basement"
