And there, but for the grace of Eddie, goes Collingwood! How long before Kernahan offers MM the "Director of Football" position - that's what you do when you have an over-the-hill senior-citizen warming the coach's chair, isn't it? Chris Judd to coach the Blooz on a 2-year transition plan. Ho Ho Ho.

I've been sceptical of Bucks's coaching skills in the last few years, simply on the evidence - we seemed uncoordinated, leaky, uninspired and unskilled. Well, these past two weeks I'm beginning to see the evidence shift. We still need to develop and prove that we can beat a truly top 4 contender (Fremantle, Essendon, Hawthorn, Geelong), but the boys are starting to play with more confidence and fluency, the leg speed put of the back half looks like it may be starting to pay dividends, the injured will hopefully start to return, and the Jesse White recruitment looks inspired. As MM's star implodes, Bucks' star begins to look stronger, and perhaps he is not going to be a Voss/Hird great-player-dud-coach disaster as I feared. Happier days.

Pressure builds diamonds...

Build a gameplan around strong defensive pressure and you are a chance to win most games - especially the ones at the end of the year!

Bucks was always going to get better as a coach the longer he was given.

Unfortunately the previous coach at this club gave Bucks no responsibility or proper teaching at all in his final year before Bucks took over, which meant Nathan basically had to learn on the job in 2012 and 2013.

Now he's starting to develop into the coach he will become, he's innovative, he's daring but at the same time he knows that a good defense is required to advance up the ladder.

My worry was that idiots who did not understand Bucks position and room for growth would lead to his demise before he got a chance to prove himself.

Now he's got that chance, it's over to you Bucks, prove em all wrong, and prove the likes of me right for always believing you'd develop into a great coach.

Maybe we should compare ourselves MM/Bucks with the Geelong Thompson/Scott upheaval and consequent results.

^^There was no Thompson/Scott upheaval. Thompson decided to quit and Geelong went about finding the best coach available..

That's how coaching appointments should happen. None of this handover rubbish.

Since Thompson moved on, the transition to Scott has been more smooth than Collingwood's transition to Buckley and a large part of that is the failure of the handover.

That handover rubbish didn't work too badly for Sydney. But then again Paul Roos is a very different type of person to MM...
