Pies fan for 52 years, not the best team in that time, but a team of players I loved to watch play.

Honorable mention to Micky Gayfer who , pound for pound, was the best Collingwood player I have ever seen in terms of getting 100% of his ability out every time he stepped out.

A few players worth a mention.

Ricky Watt Fantastic wingman

Laurie Hill Half back flanker

Max Urqhart Half back flanker

Colin Tully Centreman who could kick a torp from the centre to Vic Park station.

This topic makes for great interesting and fun debate. I reckon since 79 which is when I'd say I really started to understand what makes a great footballer there are really only about 5 locks in the best team; being Daics on a half forward flank, Pants on a wing, Rowdy on a wing or up forward, Jimmy Clement down back, Billy Picken at CHB and Bucks somewhere in the middle.

I saw lots of Len Thompson, Phil Carman, Ray Shaw etc but my view from on top of six steel white Carlton draught cans under each foot in the terraces of the Rush stand and my limited comprehension and attention span as a single digit pre-pubescent youngster, more interested in where my next 4 n' Twenty was coming from means that I can't include them in my team.

Mgh3536, mate I'm a few years younger but I too could watch that team all week, or for eternity, just to get to see Greening at his best again would be worth the price of admish!

Those are some names! Couldn't agree more. Love to see names like Cooper, Love JG as ruck rover. Somehow Swan should be in there Maybe for Tony( sorry mate). Moore's defection to the Dees still rumbles my stomach. That Backline of Wortho Stan the Man and Clemo is just the best!!!

I simply cannot understand how Andrew tarpey, Jason wild, and Stephen Patterson haven't made the above teams. ! And no Paul Rizonico, jeez, now that is harsy lads.

In case anyone was wondering, that's -

B: Shane Morwood, Shane Wakelin, Leon Davis
HB: Jimmy Clement, Billy Picken, Nick Maxwell
C: Paul Williams Barry Price, Ricky Barham
HF: Gavin Brown, Anthony Rocca, Dale Thomas
F: Peter Moore, Peter McKenna, Peter Daicos
Foll: Len Thompson, Mick McGuane, Nathan Buckley
Int: Scott Burns, Scott Pendlebury, John Greening, Phil Carman

Emer: Dane Swan, Gavin Crosisca, Wayne Richardson

These are the guys I'd love to see run out and play. You might mention a few that you reckon were even better players, and maybe I wouldn't argue or maybe I would, but that doesn't matter. If there has been a better sight in football than Paul Williams roosting a major on the run, or Jimmy Clement out-foxing a man twice his size, or a flying Billy Picken Special, the Little Master goaling from the boundary, I haven't seen it.
