NOT Jason Wild or Stephen Patterson ? |
I prefer Garry Shaw...... |
Terry Keays and Jason Croall ! |
Lol I played Cricket against Terry a few times, back when we were young, complete mercenary!!! |
Arhhggg...........Terry Keays was the original "built like Tarzan, plays like Jane" prototype player.. He was huge at 16 and our expectations soared! What a let down he was..... |

Statue looks great. Poor old Louie, I'm giving my kids instructions to euthanise me at the first sign of dementia. If I'm able to fight back, they're jumping the gun. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Classy day for the pies today with the unveiling of Lou's statue
Looks good
Lou got a gong from Afl as well!!!!!
Inaugural Kennedy lifetime achievement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks for that
sort of...
It's like they made up an award to give him to square up for both his claim to hall of fame status and in a broader sense, no Collingwood players in the afl team of the 1st C, or for that matter, statues around the g so far. But then the Melbourne Cricket Club decide on them don't they? As if they will salute a woodsman in Yarra park.
Like sp says, stuff em, let's recognise our own appropriately around our training and home base and not worry about gongs like Brownlow, AFL bla bla . Nice if they come along but I'd rather win a Copeland any day... _________________ woodsmen rule |

Love the gesture by the Club! It's about time Louie gets some recognition for being the "silent unassuming" media Icon of our game over the last 50 years. Never saw him play but always brought a smile when he was presenting commentating or doing anything for our game. Some of his one liners are just so good and represent some of the best of Aussie humour in my lifetime. Have a read of the dedication on the base of the statue absolutely spot on!! |

I was just watching an old Vic-WA State Of Origin game from 1986 and Lou was commentating with Dennis Cometti and doing a good job of it too.
People forget what an outstanding caller Louie was in his day. He called the action as it was, added some genuine colour and excitement and didn't mind a bit of humour and cheek thrown in as well.
It was a, sadly missing today, magic ingredient called "character" and the drones, bores, hyperbolers and stat heads who call todays matches (with a couple of exceptions) could do worse than to listen to Lou, Mike Williamson, Sandy Roberts and Peter Landy from back in the day to see how good football calling was done. |

Have a nice Easter everyone.
Loved the dedication of Louie's statue. Thoroughly deserved.
The next statue gives Collingwood a chance to be first. The first to have a statue to the greatest coach and Collingwood man ever to walk the face of this earth.
Old Jock McHale. In his overcoat and hat as well. Please.
Make it happen Pies! _________________ Rain or hail, I wag my tail

Well done to the Collingwood Football Club for this lovely gesture to the legendary Lou Richards. I'm clearly too young to remember Lou playing but this man personifies what Collingwood is and he's as tough as they come and he will go down in history as a Collingwood Premiership Captain in 1953.
Lou's work in the media on top of his playing career cannot be underestimated. He revolutionised football media as we know it. So it astounds me that he hasn't been given legendary status in the AFL Hall of Fame for his work in the game in both the playing and media aspects of his career which he thoroughly deserves.
At the end of the day the man is widely respected by everyone and he deserves this honour at our great club. Well done to Lou and great job by the Collingwood Football Club for doing this. This is money well spent and great to see that Lou is with us!

On these special Collingwood occasions I'm reminded of how much love Eddie has for our club. I'm sure Eddie was behind this statue and we should also thank Tony from Get Wines Direct who paid $150,000 for its manufacture.
I was at GWD yesterday and sampled the Louie the Lip range once again. One of the managers there is a Pie man and he told me about the day and how special it was. What I like about GWS is that every wine they sell is available for testing.....nice _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!
