Alright, this is a lot easier to do than I thought.

I am so confident that we will win tomorrow that I'm going to post my promised apology a day early.

It'd be lost in all the celebration tomorrow night anyway.

Jock in answer to your question, despite the fact I think we will win by 61 points and even more if it rains, even if the unthinkable happened (God forbid) I will not change my current opinion of Mick and Eddie one bit. So let's get the apology out of the way so that we can ALL enjoy tomorrow as one of the greatest days in Collingwood's history. Very Happy

I am not lessening the impact of this apology when I say that given the circumstances of previous years, both in the football department and in the club administration, some of the criticisms made by me and other critics on Nick's were considered warranted at the time. There may be some reason to offer constructive criticism in the future as well.

BUT...

Eddie and Mick have my complete and unqualified support now.

In so far as Eddie stuck to his guns and has worked his backside off to make this club the strongest in the AFL he deserves this premiership.

In so far as Mick has continued to believe in Mick when many of us doubted him, he deserves to win this flag.

This year things have clicked into place and all the pieces of Eddie's adminstrative and Mick's footy puzzles have come together to produce a football team of BEAUTY. One that we can ALL love.

So that's enough from me. I apologise for doubting you two fine men and will respect your love for Collingwood to the utmost.

Now Jock, if the result is not what we want tomorrow, it won't change my assessment of our bright future one bit. 2010 has been the coming of age of a young football team that might just challenge the great Machine of 1927-1930.

I'm so confident about tomorrow that I'm cracking open the Lanson champagne tonight!

On a final note: Won't this year's AGM be a breeze! Very Happy Wink

So Jack, can I just check...

Does that mean that all that stuff you said about (off the top of my head)

1. Mick being too old,
2. Mick having lost the support of the players,
3. Mick not giving young players a go (seven players under 50 games are lining up tomorrow),
4. Mick having rebuilt the list five times in 10 years,
5. The Mick/Bucks partnership being a dud deal,
6. Eddieland,
7. The boundary-hugging game plan,
8. Mick's "good citizen" recruitment strategy,
9. The Lexus/Westpac Centre Cult,
10. Anything else I've left out,

Was WRONG?

My god. If you could be wrong about ALL those things, we might just sneak into a grand final and give ourselves half a chance of winning! Smile

Come on Piper. The man has admitted that he was wrong. You don't need to rub it in.

there's still the pubs which are not technically footy related.

I think anything the night before a GF should be taken in good humour, Good Doctor. There was a smiley at the end of the post. Mr Spain has laid it on pretty thick for three years, and I'm pretty sure he's big enough to take a bit of ribbing now.

Mind you, we'd better win, because if we don't I don't expect the good humour to last long! Razz

jmcp: He might actually have a point about the pubs.

Takes a man to criticise and a much bigger man to apologise. No one is perfect - the last perfect person was hung on a cross. We ALL make various errors of judgement and many mistakes.
I fully respect a person willing to apologise and I say well done dude.

Fair comment. I'm getting so nervous that my sense of humour (good or bad) is becoming severely challenged. It is going to be a long night.
