Paul,
I agree totally with your reasonings. In order to develop a a truly successful side, you need successful management. Collingwood's drafting processes over the last few years have been nothing short of shocking and it directly affects the sides on field performance.
I have been a Collingwood supporter for 19 years now and have witnessed many great victory's but even more saddening losses. If Collingwood as a club is going to improve over the next few years its recruiting program must become a great deal more succesful. They need to be more aggressive in selecting future players, and considerate to their needs, as for a young kid the prospect of playing for such great club may prove a daunting experience. Hopefully with the appointment of Danny Corcoron from Essendon alongside other recruitment staff, next season we will see more of our young guns firing. The only positive to come out last season in terms of recruiting was the attainment of Mal MIchael. He surely proved enough in the later stages of last year to suggest he will be great assest to our defensive structure. The signing of Anthony Rocca will also prove beneficial, but it wont be enough.
I totally agree with your statement. Don't blame the players. Blame the recruiting staff and Management
